Seafarer's Ministry

The mission of the Seafarers Ministry of Green Bay is to be a Christian presence in the maritime community of Northeast Wisconsin. We respect and welcome every person as a child of God in the name of the ecumenical Christian community.

During the shipping season, the board of directors meets the third Tuesday of each month at 3:00 p.m. in the church library. The ministry is supported entirely by donations.

Ken Schneider and Deacon Glenn Teske visit the ships that come into the port of Green Bay. They take books and magazines to each ship and offer services such as furnishing transportation to the seafarers for shopping trips. Through these visits, strong friendships have been established. Over 125 visits were made in 2002.

Each spring a memorial and dedication service is held at the Neville Museum as the shipping season resumes. Beginning in November, a box containing homemade cookies, a small gift and wrapped candy is given to each person aboard ship and also to the Coast Guard stations in Marinette and Sturgeon Bay. Churches throughout the area and as far away as Wausau provide the homemade cookies for the boxes. These boxes are packed in Fellowship Hall.

Visitors or volunteers are always welcome!
