Presbyterian Men

All men in the church are automatically members of this organization, which exists to provide Christian men's fellowship and service to the church, the community and beyond. The comaraderie experienced while working toward a Christian goal is very rewarding.

Our big fundraiser each year is the famous fruitcake bake, which originated in 1956. About 1000 fruitcakes are baked by over 25 men over a five-week period to concoct the sought-after Christmas delights! Middle school and high school youth contribute a Sunday afternoon to the project. The proceeds help fund several projects throughout the year, such as transportation for the Sr. High mission trip, Habitat for Humanity, Room at the Inn, the church baseball team, church kitchen supplies, the Christmas Giving Tree and other miscellaneous church projects.

Besides financial assistance, Presbyterian Men offers helping hands such as organizing a Habitat House work team to insulate and side the house on Irwin Street in Green Bay (entire families worked on this one!). The men also prepare and serve our annual September burger and brat Simple Supper, and provide a continnental breakfast on Mother's Day.

Our regular club meetings are held at the Nicolet Restaurant at 7:00 a.m. on the 2nd Sunday of the month from September through May. The purpose of the meetings is to plan meaningful activities and projects for the men of the church. All men are welcome and encouraged to join us for breakfast to share ideas.

Presbyterian Women (PW)

The purpose of PW is to nurture our faith through prayer and Bible study, to support the mission of the church locally and worldwide, to work for justice and peace, and to build an inclusive, caring community of women that strengthens the Presbyterian Church (USA) and witness to the promise of God's Kingdom.

PW meets three times a year for a program and fellowship. Meeting day and time vary to accomodate our members' schedules. The programs each year include (check the church calendar for exact dates and times and the topics):

May
Spring Luncheon
October

December

PW locally is part of the PW in the wider church. we have four women on the PW Presbytery Coordinating Team and one on the PW Synod Coordinating Team. Activities and projects of our local PW are planned and coordinated by the PW Coordinating Team, which meets monthly. This team consists of the circle leaders and elected officers.

PW works to support over twenty-five different missions. To that end, quilts and clothing are produced and given away locally and abroad, baby items are collected for the YWCA Teen Closet and Christmas gifts are given to Ledgeview Nursing Home. Meals and necessities are provided to people at Freedom House, Golden House and Green Bay Community Shelter. Mosquito nets for the Networkers Project Against Malaria are financially supported. With the help of the congregation's donations and the handiwork of Mary's Circle, we are able to donate many schoolbags filled with supplies and many fully stocked health kits to Church World Services.

We support the three special offerings of the National PW: the Thank Offering, the Least Coin Offering and the Birthday Offering. Annual fund-raisers include rummage sales, used book sales in May and November, election day bake sales, Christmas cookie bake, winter soup/bread sale, preparing and serving meals for various church groups and Presbytery-sponsored events and collecting grocery store receipts. Direct donations are also received, including the "Bag of Thanks."

Thursday Club

This group is for people 55 years young and continuing! We draw people from many churches in our area in addition to those from First United Presbyterian Church.

The club has regular meetings from September through June at noon on the third Thursday of each month. We have good programs, good fellowship and good food! Both members and non-members are encouraged to join us. For more information, please contact the church office at 336-1446.
