The Fellowship Ministry mission is to provide opportunities for socializing and fellowship for persons of all ages. Regular activities include Coffee Fellowship, Simple Supper, the annual church picnic, and special events. The Fellowship Ministry works with other church organizations to develop activities that bring members and non-members of the church together socially.
Activities:
Coffee Fellowship
- Fellowship Hall is the regular setting for coffee fellowship after
the second service, except during the summer when it is held after the single
service. Birthday Sunday is held the first Sunday of every month, with several
sheet cakes being cut and served.
Other special events that are celebrated during coffee fellowship include:
Baseball Sunday, Autumn, Winter, Christmas, Easter, St. Patrick's Day, Spring
and World Communion Sunday. These events are celebrated with special foods
and coffees from around the world. Fair
Trade coffee is now being served, with bags available for sale, during
coffee fellowship.
Simple Supper - On the first Wednesday of each month, at 5:45 p.m., from September through May, there is a special time of fellowship, when a nominally priced meal is served. Church groups such as the Men's Club, Deacons, Presbyterian Women, and other ministries and church organizations take care of preparing, serving and cleaning up after the meal, and an occasional program is presented after the meal. Up to 150 people have been served during a Simple Supper!
Church Picnic - Our annual church picnic is held at the church, and is timed to coincide with "Rally Sunday", the kickoff for Sunday School activities after Labor Day. Horse and carriage rides, extensive games for children developed by the youth of the church, a "dunking tank", and a chicken barbecue prepared by the Fellowship Ministry, with attendees bringing potluck dishes to share, are examples of the activities experienced.
Valentine's Day Dinner- A very special Valentines' dinner was prepared in February by the Fellowship Ministry members. Many guests enjoyed hors d' oeuvres, sparkling cider, and a specially prepared meal and dessert while listening to area musicians. Many of the confirmands assisted by serving dinner, waiting on tables, and cleaning up after the meal.
Seder Meal - A Seder Meal is prepared and served in collaboration with a Passover service on Maunday Thursday. The youth of our congregation decorate the pillars in the Fellowship Hall for the event. Candlelight, music and responsive reading enhanced the meaning of the evening when we celebrate the first communion.
Thanksgiving Dinner - On the Sunday prior to Thanksgiving, Fellowship sponsors a church-wide Thanksgiving potluck meal. The Ministry members prepare turkey, dressing, and mashed potatoes for nearly 100 participants who bring side dishes to share.
