Fellowship Ministry
The Fellowship Ministry's mission is to provide opportunities for socializing and fellowship for persons of all ages. Regular activities include Coffee Fellowship, Simple Supper, the annual church picnic, and other special events. The Fellowship Ministry works with other church organizations to develop activities that bring members and non-members of the church together socially.
Activities have included:
Coffee Fellowship
Our new Family Life Center is the regular setting for Coffee Fellowship after the Sunday morning worship service. Other special events are occasionally recognized, but it is always a wonderful time to visit with old friend and enjoy meeting new ones. Fair Trade coffee is now available for sale during Coffee Fellowship time.
Simple Supper
On the first Wednesday of each month from September through May at 5:45 p.m., there is a special time of fellowship when a nominally-priced meal is served. Various groups such as the Men's Club, Deacons, Presbyterian Women, and other church ministries and organizations take care of preparing, serving, and cleaning up. Up to 150 people have been served during our special Simple Suppers!
Church Picnic
Our annual congregational picnic is timed to coincide with "Rally Day" - the traditional kickoff for a new program year after Labor Day. Past special activities have included horse and carriage rides, extensive games for children developed by the youth of the church, a "dunking tank", and a chicken barbecue prepared by the Fellowship Ministry.
Valentine's Day Dinner
During some years, a very special Valentine dinner has been prepared by the Fellowship Ministry members. Many guests enjoyed hors d'oeuvres, sparkling cider, and a specially-prepared meal with dessert while listening to area musicians. Many of the confirmands assisted by serving dinner, waiting on tables, and cleaning up after the meal.
Seder Meal
A Seder Meal has occasionally been prepared in the past and served in collaboration with a Passover service on Maunday Thursday. Candlelight, music, and responsive readings have enhanced the meaning of the evening when we have celebrated the first communion in this way.
Thanksgiving Dinner
Sometimes in past years, Fellowship has sponsored a church-wide Thanksgiving potluck meal on the Sunday prior to Thanksgiving. In the past, Ministry members have prepared turkey, dressing, and mashed potatoes for as many as 100 participants who also brought side dishes to share. These are planned on a year-to-year basis.
