Evangelism Ministry

Mission:

"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit..." -- Matthew 28:19

The Evangelism Ministry meets on the first Wednesday or Thursday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in the Library, with the 2007-08 schedule listed below. Anyone who is interested in working with this ministry are welcome to join!

The Evangelism Ministry is involved in programs that keep us very busy but are also very rewarding. Highlights include:

• Alpha Evangelism Program - This is a dynamic 10-week program held twice a year on the basics and fundamentals of Christianity for seekers, and new and old believers. Nancy Hayes coordinates this successful program with tremendous help in the food department from many former participants!

• PACK (Planned Acts of Christian Kindness -- Acts 1:8 Ministry) - we have had a lot of fun with this low-key evangelism program, doing activities such as handing out water to joggers on warm days, handing out cookies or ice cream at a grocery store, handing out candy at Artstreet, providing batteries to local residents for changing their smoke detectors and giving shoppers candy canes during the Christmas season.
  
• New Member Classes - Each year, two new member classes are held, resulting in many new members. Time and Talents surveys are distributed to our new members to enable other ministries to utilize the strength, faithfulness and commitment of these newest members of our church family. Beth Paulson and Steve Bodnar organize and lead this vital and meaninful class.
  
• Evangelism Sunday - Worship services are usually sponsored on the last Sunday in September in recognition of this denomination-wide event. These poignant worship worship services are highlighted by the touching stories of faith-sharers, who demonstrated some of the amazing ways in which the grace of God affects our lives and serves to enhance the spirit of unity among our congregation.
  
• Visitor Bag Program - This is our warm way of recognizing and welcoming first time visitors to our church.
  
• Participate in Christian Outreach Programs - We provide resources where needed to participate in programs such as the Sowing Mustard Seeds Program and support for our missionaries, John and Gwen Haspels.
  
• Special Events - Promote events such as Upward Call, Covenant Players and Renee Bondi.
  
• Other Tasks - Periodic updating of Pew Cards to reflect current staff and program information; maintenance of the church web site; perform new resident mailings of our church brochure and current newsletter.

God continues to bless this congregation in so many ways. The Evangelism Ministry is thankful for the opportunity to serve and provide opportunities for growth, and for the dedication and faithfulness of all those who are helping to bring about the Kingdom of our Lord.
