Books recommended by South Sudanese Friends International -- these books are very eye-opening in regards to the situation, but depressing, so do find something of lighter fare after reading these:

The Graves Are Not Yet Full by Bill Berkely

The Road to Hell by Michael Maren -- this is about the unintended consequences of foreign aid.

Beasts of No Nation by Uzodinma Iweala -- it is a novel about the child soldier experience in Africa, something that is being dealt with in Sudan.

South Sudanese Friends International, Inc.

SSFI is the organization founded by Dr. Julia Aker Duany and her husband, Wal Duany. Julia spoke at our Pathfinders group. SSFI is a grassroots organization, and there is a lot of good information on this site gathered by the Duanys.

Africaserver

A great site with a "hot" map of Africa and easy links to a range of good resources.

Sudan Monthly Report

By far the most detailed information, current and past. It is a Nairobi-based newspaper, so it comes with an African perspective.

Political Resources

Specifically covering politics, provides easy access to news of elections, political situations, governmental structures and a host of other issues.

Africa Policy Information Center

Good links to news and analysis of general policy issues, including the USA's role in Africa.

Sudan.net Comprehensive news server for Sudan news.

Washington Office on Africa

Focuses on economic justice issues in Africa including questions of aid, trade and debt.

This is another good news site from Africa, which provides news by country.

Darfur Information This is a good comprehensive site for the Darfur crisis.

This is a company that is involved with the oil controversy. You can do a search on Sudan on their site -- several documents are available.

iAbolish - American Anti-Slavery Group This is a group that Francis Bok, a Sudanese who was a slave, belongs to. This groups educates people on slavery issues as well as works to combat slavery around the world.
